The Romanian training market
In recent years, the Romanian training market has shown a steady growth generated by the increasing number of companies who are becoming aware of the necessity and usefulness of training. Still, in 2006, only 15% of the Romanian companies are investing in training or other educational activities for their employees, spending less then 10 million euros a year.
On the Romanian training market there are about 60 training companies of which 40 are based in Bucharest (freelancers are not included in the figure; moreover, 20% of the companies are international).
Due to the entrance of some international training companies to the market, customers’ expectations are growing, which has led to the demand for customized and complex training programs. Furthermore, it is expected to deliver courses at high standards and adapt them to the Romanian market specifics.
According to a study presented in a Romanian publication called Business-edu, certain percentages of a company’s training budget is allocated to the employees in 2006:
31% € 0-50
13% € 51-100
5% € 101-150
35% more than € 150
16% don’t have training budget or know nothing about training courses
Also, the study revealed the fact that about 80% of this budget is invested in training programs for middle and top management and just 20% of the amount is spent on the rest of the staff.
