How can a global organization strengthen leadership capabilities across multiple countries while keeping the program consistent, relevant, and locally applicable?

This was the key challenge faced by an international pharmaceutical company that wanted to support middle managers across its local organizations. The company needed a leadership development program that could reflect shared corporate values, strengthen future leadership competencies, and still work effectively in different cultural and business contexts.

The organization partnered with DEVELOR to co-create and roll out a large-scale leadership development program across more than 20 countries.

The project combined centrally designed content with local expertise in delivery. The leadership training material was developed in close cooperation with the client, aligned with the company’s competency framework, and built on DEVELOR’s modular training know-how. After the design phase, the approved content was transferred to DEVELOR’s local trainers, who delivered the program in local languages with carefully managed adaptation where needed.

The joint journey focused on:

  • Creating a leadership development program aligned with corporate values and business needs
  • Maintaining a consistent international methodology across countries
  • Preparing local trainers to deliver the central know-how with high quality
  • Adapting communication and delivery to local participant needs
  • Combining in-person, online, and technology-supported learning elements
  • Supporting practical application through summaries, follow-up tasks, and case study workshops
  • Developing future leadership competencies for a complex and changing business environment

The program helped managers strengthen key future leadership competencies, including:

Agile mindset
Responding quickly to change, learning from experience, and continuously improving the way work is done.

Adaptive leadership
Adjusting leadership style to different people, situations, and challenges while providing clear direction and support.

Engaging leadership
Building trust, creating a sense of purpose, and involving employees in achieving shared goals.

Critical and systems thinking
Questioning assumptions, seeing connections, and making better decisions in complex situations.

The results:

  • A large-scale leadership development roll-out across more than 20 countries
  • Training delivery in 16 languages, mainly across Europe
  • A consistent leadership methodology supported by local trainer expertise
  • Stronger alignment between global leadership principles and local business realities
  • Practical tools that helped participants apply new leadership skills in everyday work
  • Positive feedback from both participants and the client on content quality, trainer professionalism, and practical applicability
