The world of work is changing quickly. The capabilities organizations need from their people are changing with it.
AI is becoming part of everyday work. Leaders are making decisions in increasingly complex environments. Teams need to collaborate under pressure and adapt to uncertainty. And employees expect learning experiences that are relevant, engaging, and worth their attention.
For HR and L&D professionals, this creates an important question: are we developing people for the world they work in today, or the one we were used to?
At DIRECT 2026, our international DEVELOR community came together in Budapest to explore these questions and turn new ideas, strategies, and learning approaches into action. It was also an opportunity to introduce some of the newest additions to our portfolio.
Among the solutions presented were three learning experiences, each addressing a challenge organizations face today: leading in the age of AI, making better sense of complexity, and strengthening collaboration.
At DEVELOR, we believe modern corporate training programs need to respond to real changes in how people lead, decide, collaborate, and learn.
Here are three of our latest learning experiences designed to do exactly that.
AI-Ready Leader: leadership when AI becomes part of the team
AI training often focuses on tools and prompts. But once AI becomes part of everyday work, organizations face a bigger question: how do you lead in an AI-enabled environment?
AI-Ready Leader focuses on the leadership side of AI adoption. Participants explore where AI can add value, what should remain human-led, how to establish clear team norms, and how leaders can maintain judgment, transparency, and accountability while embracing new technology.
The program combines practical frameworks with realistic situations and hands-on application. The objective is to help participants become confident leaders of teams where AI is increasingly part of how work gets done.
TITAN: when more information doesn’t mean better decisions
We have access to more data than ever before. Yet having more information does not automatically help us understand a situation – or make a better decision.
TITAN – Deep Dive into Sense- and Decision-Making turns this challenge into an immersive learning experience built around the real story of OceanGate and the Titan submersible.
Participants work with information, documents, videos, different perspectives, and real events as the story unfolds. They interpret evidence, recognize cognitive biases, challenge assumptions, debate different perspectives, and gradually build a more complete picture.
Instead of simply learning about sense-making, critical thinking, and decision-making, participants experience these processes (including the limitations of their own thinking) as they work through the case.
Black Gold Empire: team building with an empire at stake
What happens when colleagues stop being colleagues for a few hours and become competing business teams trying to build an oil empire?
Black Gold Empire is a dynamic, half-day team-building experience inspired by Baku’s early oil boom.
Teams buy and bid on territories, build infrastructure, manage cash flow and resources, respond to changing market conditions, and continuously make strategic decisions together.
The competition makes the experience fun. But beneath the game, something valuable is happening: participants communicate, negotiate, allocate resources, deal with uncertainty, and discover how they actually make decisions as a team.
It is team building without the usual team-building feeling. An engaging shared experience with plenty to talk about afterward.
New challenges need new learning experiences
These 3 programs address very different business challenges, but they share the same philosophy.
Learning should feel relevant to the world participants actually work in. It should involve them rather than simply talk at them. And it should create opportunities to think, decide, experiment, reflect, and practice.
Because when the workplace changes, development needs to change with it.
AI-ready leadership. Better sense-making and decision-making. Stronger collaboration.
Different challenges. Different experiences. One goal: making learning matter in the real world.
Frequently Asked Questions about modern corporate training programs
Modern corporate training programs are designed around current workplace realities. They combine practical application, interaction, realistic scenarios, reflection, and behavioral practice to help participants apply what they learn in their everyday work.
As AI becomes part of everyday work, leaders increasingly need to combine technological possibilities with human judgment, critical thinking, transparency, and accountability. They also need to establish clear expectations around how their teams use AI and help employees adapt to AI-enabled ways of working.
Leaders today operate in environments with enormous amounts of information, competing perspectives, and uncertainty. Sense-making helps them interpret what they see, identify what matters, challenge assumptions, and integrate different perspectives before making decisions.
Yes. Experiential team building can create situations where participants naturally practice communication, collaboration, strategic thinking, resource management, and decision-making. Programs such as Black Gold Empire combine these elements with an engaging shared experience.
Start with the business challenge rather than the training topic. Identify what people need to do differently in their everyday work, then choose a learning experience that allows them to practice those behaviors in realistic situations.
The strongest development programs connect learning directly to the decisions, conversations, and challenges participants actually face.
